Tenets of Scientia-Do

Scientia-Do embraces the five central tenets (fundamental beliefs) set down by the founder of Tae Kwon-Do. Students are strongly encouraged to cultivate the five tenets is all aspects of their training. Students will not receive their Black Belts until these tenets are understood, practiced and demonstrated.
 
Courtesy
Politeness or considerate behaviour - politeness that shows consideration for other people and good manners.
 
Integrity
The quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.
 
Perseverance
Determined continuation with some task - steady and continued action or belief, usually over a long period, especially despite difficulties or setbacks.
 
Self Control
The act of holding oneself in check - simply put this is the students ability to control their own body and not hurt other students. At a much higher level, a students "self control" is a measure of their "exactness or accuracy" when performing Scientia-Do techniques. This is also the students ability not to be provoked into combat and/or "showing off".
 
Indomitable Spirit
An unconquerable spirit - the very word "indomitable" comes from a Latin word meaning "untamable". Therefore this is a very advanced form of determination, the ability to be unaffected by set backs or hardships.
